Am I too old for Gossip Girl or is Gossip Girl too old for me?

I can remember the certain *gasps* and outrage spewing from parents' mouths as they were slowly being introduced to a new series called Gossip Girl. Take this ad for the show on the right as an example. It is a sexual innuendo in itself. I used to not think anything badly of the ads or even the show. I was a teenager and attractive boys, drama, and high school were of interest to me, just as they were of interest to my other high school girl friends.
However, lately I have been finding myself withdrawing from Monday night viewings of the show. Last night, Blair and Chuck broke up again, I hate sneaky Little J once more, and Dan's girlfriend--whose name I can never remember--is annoying. When will the drama ever end? Why does it seem that these kids--if you can even call them that considering they party like they're in their 20s and drink alcohol without worrying about getting caught by their parents--are always looking to get themselves involved in more and more trouble each week? I guess I know it is a fictional story and it is supposed to be eye-catching but my rational, sensible side tends to seep out when a show like this comes on.

Love the ad and the overall vibe of the post. Think about WHY you might have watched it and what your more recent rejection of it might mean. Push a little more toward analysis, but really nice start. Really enjoyed reading it.
